Sifu Alex Vince Bio
I started my Kung Fu journey at the start of 2012, I had always admired Chinese martial arts growing up and I was inspired by the philosophy, dedication and amazing skills. When I first started at Schools of Kung Fu by IWKA, I was a little nervous and brought a friend along, but I soon found it to be a very welcoming place with very friendly instructors.
The classes were set out for beginners and was easy to pick up and follow along, with the instructors always on hand if I had any questions. After my first class I knew it was the right style of Kung Fu and a brilliant School to start my Kung fu journey with.
After a couple of years of training under the guidance of (Master) Sifu Alan Paterson around 2014 I started the instructor’s program, helping with the kid’s classes and working towards my first black belt and towards helping to teach the adult classes. It was around this time I first met Sifu Sergio, who is the International Chief Instructor of Schools of Kung Fu by IWKA, when I attended one of his seminars held and Schools of Kung HQ in Croydon, from that first seminar I was taken back by how much knowledge he had and the level of this Kung Fu skills.
In 2016 after many years of hard work I received my 1st technician grade from Sifu Alan Paterson (UK Chief Instructor of Schools of Kung Fu). At this point I had been helping to teach the adult beginners for about a year and found it really helped with my understanding of the system as a whole and the individual technics. It was around this time I met Sifu Sergio for the second time with another brilliant seminar held at Schools of Kung Fu HQ Croydon. Having been training for nearly 5 years by this time I had a good understanding of the system and yet again I was blown away by his skills and knowledge of the art.
I continued my training attending as many classes and seminars as possible, along with teaching the kids and adult classes. I started helping more with the intermediates and advanced classes and with attending the amazing weeklong intensive seminars held by Sifu Alan Paterson at Schools of Kung Fu HQ Croydon I was working hard towards my 2nd technician grade, which I achieved in 2019.
At the start of 2020 I finally took the big step in opening my own branch of Schools of Kung fu under the incredible guidance of Sifu Alan Paterson. After a couple of years of global instability, I finally opened Schools of Kung Fu Kingston in April 2022, which has brought new and exciting challenges along with it.
I’ve attended many seminars held by Sifu Sergio in April 2023, this time I had some of my students attending from Schools of Kung Fu Kingston. It was again a brilliant seminar, and it was nice seeing my student learn a lot from it along with myself. At the end of the seminar to the surprise of myself and my students I was called up by Sifu Sergio and presented with my Sifu title, if I was to say I was shocked it would be an understatement, it put an amazing end to an already brilliant seminar.
It has been a very fun and challenging journey so far and I’m looking forward for the future of my kung fu journey with Schools of Kung Fu and the amazing team.
